This paper analyzes the relationship between energy consumption,economic growth and carbon emissions for 28 OECD countries from 1971 to 2006 based on panel data model.Through panel panel unit root test and panel cointegration test,it finds that there are long-run relationships between these variables.Fixed effects varying coefficients model shows that an increasing in energy consumption by 1% results in an increase of 0.88% in carbon emissions.In long-run the relationship between real GDP and carbon emissions in some countries exhibits the inverted U-shape pattern;in the other countries exhibits U-shape pattern.
